“Echoes of Imagination” Solo Show by Irine Kiurkchian
Omi Art Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition by Irine Nina Kiurkchian, a Georgian Armenian artist based in Belgium. With a journey that spans from the University of Tbilisi, where she studied Cartography, to the Academy of Art in Leuven, where she specialized in portraiture and life studies, Kiurkchian has developed a distinctive impressionistic style under the mentorship of Professor Philippe De Smedt.
This exhibition showcases a collection of her paintings and sculptures, reflecting a deep engagement with both realism and abstraction. Her artistic evolution, shaped by years of working in portraiture, landscapes, and imaginative compositions, now embraces themes inspired by space exploration and abstract painting, a direction that highlights her innovative use of texture, material, and colour.
Kiurkchian’s primary medium is oil paint, yet her creative expression extends beyond the canvas. Through the integration of clay, stone, wood, moss, metal grids, and natural elements, she crafts sculptural pieces that embody both emotion and spontaneity. Her work captures a delicate balance between intuition and technical mastery, revealing a world where the natural and the imagined converge.
With exhibitions spanning Brussels, Leuven, Halle, and Tervuren, and over 15 years of teaching experience in Brussels and Tervuren, Kiurkchian has enriched the art community through her guidance and creative workshops. Her latest works reflect a renewed artistic vision, incorporating recycled oil paints from her students to experiment with abstraction and sustainability.
“Echoes of Imagination” invites viewers into a world where memory, nature, and cosmic wonder intertwine, offering a glimpse into the artist’s evolving visual language. Join us in exploring the intuitive brushstrokes, rich textures, and boundless imagination that define Irine Nina Kiurkchian’s artistic universe.
